Prognera Engineering & Construction has been awarded a $120 million contract for the design, engineering, and construction of a 85-kilometer coastal highway corridor. The project, backed by the federal government's infrastructure development program, is one of the largest single contracts in the division's history.

Project Scope

The coastal highway project encompasses:

  • 85 kilometers of dual-carriageway highway construction
  • 12 bridge structures including two major river crossings
  • Drainage and flood management systems designed for climate resilience
  • Service corridors for future utility infrastructure
  • Rest areas and service points at strategic intervals

    Prognera's engineering team will deploy advanced construction methodologies including:

  • Pre-stressed concrete bridge systems for accelerated construction timelines
  • Geosynthetic-reinforced earth walls for embankment stabilization
  • Intelligent traffic management systems integrated from the design phase
  • Environmental impact mitigation measures exceeding regulatory requirements

    • Timeline and Employment

    The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months, with Phase 1 (the first 35 kilometers) targeted for completion within 14 months. The project will create approximately 1,500 construction jobs and 300 engineering and supervisory positions.

    Community Impact

    "Infrastructure is the backbone of economic development," noted the division's project director. "This highway will connect coastal communities to major economic centers, reducing transit times by up to 60% and opening new corridors for commerce and social development."

    The project also includes a community development component, with Prognera committing to local workforce training programs and procurement from local suppliers where feasible.
